Dreamcatcher Studios A Room features an 48+8 track Paris Pro Audio digital audio workstation, ProTools TDM bundle and Mackie Universal Controllers. We also have an outstanding array of outboard tube gear, soft-synths, midi triggers, VST plug-ins, and a compliment of high-quality microphones. Like any studio that takes themselves seriously, we are continually adding new gear. Our aim is to provide our clients with a balanced complement of analog tube gear while taking advantage of the convience and versatility of the modern digital world.
Our recording/video complex features a live concert room, drum room with hardwood floors, and two isolation rooms that can be tailored acoustically from very live to extremely tight as well as a vocal booth.
Digital Recording Equipment and Computer Software:
We run three Paris MEC-Type III Bundles out of dual AMD Athalon Processors into SCSI interfaces (Adaptec) using Cheetah (Seagate) hard drives. We also use the Pro Tools software bundle, which has inexplicably become the industry standard for pro-audio production.
(A personal note about Paris vs. ProTools: We run Paris because it sounds good - yes, better than Protools, plain and simple. No dithering breaks all the rules, folks I know, Im a physicist, but there is no denying Paris just plain sounds better. Paris also handles more like an analog console, which is something I am not ready to give up just yet... no matter how popular ProTools gets. -T. Story)
In conjunction with Paris and Protools we run secondary and tertiary computers loaded with Propellerhead's Reason 3.0, Sony (legacy Sonic Foundry) ACID Pro 5.0, and Vegas Video 7.0, which we use for most of our sequencer, audio looping and video production work. However, we have been known to use Adobe Audition (formerly Cool Edit Pro), various Steinberg software (including Diamond Cut 5.0), Fruity Loops, Cakewalk... the list goes on.
For graphic arts, web design, and media packages we use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator CS, Macromedia (Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, etc.) along with several other powerful, albeit less well known software packages.
